What began as a love for literature and words, soon became a passion for music and rap. This week we talk to the artist Odjee, who uses rap to express his vision of the world and share his experiences.
Discover his journey, music and his inspirations.
"I’ve always been into rap, I grew up with my family listening to it and I’ve always loved writing and playing with words and lyrics. At college, I met one of my best friends and a VHS producer, with whom I did my first studio session…"
"My work echoes my experiences, those closest to me and life itself. My origins are also an integral part of my music. The vocabulary, the sounds and the atmosphere. Africa, and where I grew up, on the outskirts of Paris, are a part of me. Everything originates from there."
"I tell my story through my lyrics and express my vision through melody. Music allows me to share my experiences, my observations and also explore other people’s experiences."
"My style is really simple but it’s still really important to me; clothes are how I visually express my personality. I like to mix basic styles with high-quality materials. Details always before the logo. I choose pieces that I feel good in. I’ll wear a kind of uniform for a bit and then mix and match styles; my outfits always reflect my current mood."
