THE DENIM CLINIC

For the launch of the Denim collection, we met Marly Manku, a denim specialist.

DENIM PASSIONATE

Marly Manku is a fashion entrepreneur and denim passionate.

After launching the Bleu de Paname label in 2009, he refocused on his passion for denim by imagining "La clinique du jean" in 2012.

A studio for repairing and creating around the iconic blue material located in Ivry-sur-Seine, in the 94 region.

A CLINIC... FOR THE JEANS

Marly grew up with his father, a great lover of shoes and beautiful fabrics. When he was 18, he discovered a new range of reissued Levi's jeans. "Where did these jeans come from? That's how I got interested in the history of jeans, their methods and language".

It was after several years of repairing his own jeans that Marly realised that "a pair of jeans never dies". His "denim clinic" is therefore an ecologically responsible and conscious approach. "In the end, the result is unique pieces with a story."

ART AND MATERIAL

"I am inspired by vintage, I love the 1920s. I like the functional side of military or work clothes. The fabrics influence me! When I repair pieces, I never do the same thing twice.

FIGURE OF STYLE

Marly talks about his relationship with style. "I like nonchalance, which reflects the strength of adolescence, of youth. When I was in high school, my everyday uniform was a Levi's denim trucker jacket."

When I design pieces, they have to be well cut, the material has to be resistant. This year, I want to make a suit, but I'm going to make it in denim!

CULT PIECES

The piece he never leaves? "My workshop jacket. I wear it all the time. Whether with wool trousers or shorts".

Regarding our new Denim collection, Marly seems to have already made it part of his wardrobe: "I haven't left the October jeans since I got them. The fabric is very thick and robust, I'm curious to see how it evolves after two months of wear in the studio."
